First this week, some sad news for Black Panther fans, as BLACK PANTHER: WORLD OF WAKANDA has just been canceled. It’s the second Black Panther series in a row to be canned by Marvel. This one was particularly notable for being written by Marvel’s first black female writing team.

The Marvel legend himself, Stan Lee, will be honored in Los Angeles on August 22nd. The Saban Theater will be presenting a special event called “Stan Lee: Extraordinary,” which will feature Lee in person along with many celebrity guests, coming to honor the 91-year old’s legacy.

In Marvel Comics news, the original Spider-Man is back in a new series titled PETER PARKER: THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN. The brand new comic, which interestingly incorporates the titles of two past Spider-Man series, sees it’s first issue go on sale this Wednesday! Webheads rejoice!

In DC news, we’ve got a new DC/Loony Tunes crossover comic! This week it’s LOBO/ROAD RUNNER SPECIAL #1. The story by Bill Morrison features Wile E. Coyote journeying through outer space to hire Lobo to kill the Road Runner for him. Because why use Acme dynamite when you have Lobo? The chase is on this Wednesday!

In other big DC news, the DC Rebirth line-up is celebrating its one-year anniversary with the release of super-sized anniversary issues! SUPERMAN #25 concludes it’s “Black Dawn” storyline, while AQUAMAN, GREEN ARROW and BATMAN #25 all start brand new arcs. Of particular note is BATMAN’s much-hyped storyline, “The War of Jokes and Riddles,” a never before told story of Batman’s greatest failure!
