Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google+ Share on Reddit Share on Pinterest Share on Linkedin Share on Tumblr The VENOM teaser trailer released this morning! While we didn’t exactly see Venom in all his black and white, long-tongued glory, there were still noteworthy shots with some action. Let’s look at the top 5 things we learned from the VENOM teaser trailer. 1. Eddie’s from New York and Has a Demon First off, while the setting for the film will be in San Francisco, it looks like Eddie Brock could be from New York. The VENOM teaser trailer contains a voiceover from Tom Hardy throughout and it sounds like Hardy has adopted a New York accent for Eddie. You be the judge as to whether its good or not. The content of his voiceover does provide some interesting things, however. “Everyone’s got their thing.” He says. “Maybe it’s a break-up, a death, an accident. Whatever it is, you used to be one thing. Now..you’re something else. We all have our own problems, our own issues. Our own…demons.” 2. A Break Up with Anne Secondly, when Eddie talks about a break-up, there is an immediate shot of Michelle Williams’ character Anne Weying, Brock’s ex-wife in the comics. It looks as though their relationship in the film will follow suit. Combined with a set video of Hardy and Willams’ characters arguing on the street, we know that Brock’s love life will definitely be having some issues. This could be the film origin for the symbiote and how it got to Earth. Several men with flashlights and hazard suits are covering the scene. This is followed by a shot of Brock waking up in an MRI machine, which infers that he was potentially part of that accident. Sony’s VENOM: Everything We Know (So Far) 4. First Look at the Symbiote in the Teaser Trailer Unfortunately, while we don’t see Venom in the teaser trailer, we do see the symbiote. We see Riz Ahmed’s character, wearing a suit surrounded by men an women in labs coats. This indicates that Ahmed’s character is most likely the director of the Life Foundation. He is opening the door to a truck where canisters with a moving black substance are inside. This is the symbiote that will bond with Brock. 5. Brock Escaping and Turning Lastly, right after Eddie says that we all have our own problems, there’s a series of action shots, depicting Eddie running through a medical facility, most likely the Life Foundation. He’s also riding a motorcycle, with black cars chasing close behind. Brock runs through a forest, and another shot shows several technicians being flung across a room of computers. Right after Eddie says that we all have our own demons, there’s a shot of him, convulsing and screaming. Black veins appear, crawling up his neck, indicating that he is about to turn into Venom. The VENOM Teaser Trailer Last Thoughts It appears as though Sony’s VENOM is looking to create a film that will be actively character driven. Many of the shots we saw were not high action shots, and have more to do with Brock’s character. This will probably be a good thing, as the best thing that Sony can do right now is to drive interest in the character. While some fans might have some disappointment that they can’t see Venom in action, Sony is sure to reveal the character when we get closer to the actual release date in October. As a result, Intrigue and interest seem to be the goal for this teaser trailer, and Sony succeeds with this venture. Sony’s VENOM will release in October starring Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, and Riz Ahmed.
