We got you covered on the Marvel moments you don’t want to miss! This week in Marvel comics we have both exciting beginnings and heartbreaking endings. DOMINO #1 and EXILES #1 give us some new adventures while AVENGERS #688 says goodbye to a beloved character. Comics are all about constant change and this week’s memorable moments are a testament to that!Whether they made us laugh, cry, or a little bit of both, these scenes are ComicsVerse’s top picks for Unsung Marvel Moments!EXILES #1 – Meet the Time-EaterEXILES #1. Cover. Image Courtesy of Marvel Entertainment.Writer Saladin Ahmed and artist Javier Rodriguez bring a colorful, engaging work to life in EXILES #1! The highly-anticipated series kicks off with the reveal of a horrifying new threat as realities within the multiverse begin to fade into oblivion. So, it is up to Blink and her team of Exiles to restore the multiverse as we know it!EXILES #1 is without a doubt a fun work from start to finish. Blink’s journey in meeting her recruits is quite the wild, eccentric ride. However, one of the biggest Marvel moments in this issue lies within this installment’s final pages. After her handy dandy Tallus draws her to Khan, an older version of Ms. Marvel, the Tallus transports Blink and her new teammate to another reality in which Kang the Conquerer is actually a teenager operating under the alias: Iron Lad.So, the three reluctantly join forces as they finally meet the entity responsible for destroying the realities of the multiverse: The Time-Eater, an entity that actually resembles a dead Galactus head.Thanos and Thanos Fight to the Death in THANOS #18The final pages of EXILES #1 give readers plenty to chew on. The twist of the Time-Eater’s identity being a version of Galactus is pretty exciting and unexpected. So, it is safe to say that there will be more exciting Marvel moments to come in future issues of EXILES. We’ll just have to wait until April 25th to witness those moments when we meet our next recruit, Valkyrie!CAPTAIN AMERICA #700 – Steve Rogers Goes HomeCAPTAIN AMERICA #700. Variant Cover. Image Courtesy of Marvel Entertainment.Steve Rogers was a man out of time. The year was 2025, and Captain America brought it upon himself to restore the United States after the nation was under the control of the evil group, Rampart, and its leader, King Babbington. However, the battle to restore America turned out to be much more of a struggle than Cap initially thought. At one point, Bruce Banner suggests that Cap go back in time to stop the threat of Rampart before it makes itself known in 2025, but Cap refuses. He remains steadfast that the current battle will prevail. This Week in Unsung Marvel Moments – April 4th, 2018Well, that is until a nuclear strike hits New York. Thus, it is in that moment that Cap decides to ultimately sacrifice himself and go back in time to prevent the catastrophic events he is currently facing to take place. So, one of this issue’s many unsung Marvel moments lies in Captain America’s self-sacrifice for the sake of saving the world and ridding it of Rampart’s threat. It is a moment that truly exemplifies his character as well as his inability to give up hope in any situation.Yes, the Captain America of the future has passed away, but the Cap of the present manages to get a second chance at life and continues to live to fight another day.DOMINO #1 – Fierce New Rivals Enter the FrayDOMINO #1. Variant Cover. Image Courtesy of Marvel Entertainment.DOMINO #1 was arguably the most anticipated issue of the week. The work features writer Gail Simone’s return to Marvel Comics after a fourteen-year hiatus. So, fans were eagerly awaiting to see what Simone had planned on bringing into the Domino mythos.Fortunately, the work has everything one would expect and more! Full of action, humor, and intimate insight into the iconic character, DOMINO #1 takes the titular antihero to new heights. Now, in regard to its stand-out moments, the issue is full of them. The bulk of the work centers around a surprise birthday party Outlaw throws for Domino. In the midst of it, we see plenty of familiar faces from Deadpool to Dazzler. It’s an exciting event that even Domino herself surprisingly enjoys up until traumatic flashbacks from her youth suddenly rattle her mind. Unfortunately, though, this conflict proves to only be the beginning of a series of challenges.Squirrel Girl and Nancy Fight Crime in Hypertime in UNBEATABLE SQUIRREL GIRL #31The final pages of DOMINO #1 feature a fierce, unexpected cliffhanger that will leave readers eagerly awaiting the follow-up. We witness the adversary, Topaz, throw Domino out a window, letting the mercenary fall to her death. Now, I’m going to take a wild guess here and say that Domino will probably make it out alive. However, the cliffhanger is still a bold way to end this introductory issue, so it is without a doubt a memorable Marvel moment of the week!AVENGERS #688 – Wanda Loses Her BrotherAVENGERS #688. Page 18. Image Courtesy of Marvel EntertainmentI knew it was coming, but that didn’t make Pietro’s (a.k.a Quicksilver) selfless sacrifice in AVENGERS #688 any less painful. You may be able to tell yourself that he’s just a fictional character, but Wanda’s reaction to her twin’s death makes it a little too real. I’ll be the first to admit that I had to wipe away a little tear when I read Wanda’s fatal words: “He’s…gone…”In AVENGERS #688, writers Mark Waid, Al Ewing, and Jim Zub send Quicksilver on his fastest and most dangerous race ever. In order to save the world from the cruel Challenger, Quicksilver must rescue Earth’s heroes — most of whom are frozen in time thanks to the Grandmaster. Quicksilver notices that a fast blue beacon traversing the planet is the only thing keeping the heroes frozen. He decides he needs to capture the beacon to stop it…but, unfortunately, the thing is really, really fast. With time running out, Quicksilver asks his sister, the Scarlet Witch, for help. Using her probability altering powers, Quicksilver grabs the beacon. In a flash, the beacon kills him within a few seconds.Quicksilver Makes The Ultimate Sacrifice in AVENGERS #688But, this isn’t the last time we’ll be seeing the white-haired speedster. Writer Saladin Ahmed and artist Eric Nguyen are releasing QUICKSILVER: NO SURRENDER in May. The series will cover Pietro’s time in the frozen reality he was trying to save the other heroes from. So, perhaps Quicksilver isn’t really dead — he’s just somewhere else.X-MEN BLUE #25 – The Blue Team Gets a MakeoverX-MEN BLUE #25. Page 19. Image Courtesy of Marvel EntertainmentWe all loved the teen-Jean led Blue team, but comics are all about change, right? Writer Cullen Bunn and artists Jorge Molina and Matt Milla welcome a new Blue Team in X-MEN BLUE #25, with Polaris leading the group. Her new teammates include Jimmy Hudson, Bloodstorm, Nightshade, Daken, and Xorn.Polaris and Briar Raleigh hastily assemble the motley bunch after Havok releases Mothervine on the world. “Mothervine” is a mysterious drug that causes spontaneous mutations in humans. According to Havok’s plan, Mothervine will alter the world’s population and make mutants the majority instead of the minority. However, the FDA hasn’t been anywhere near this thing, which means it has some nasty health effects that can really hurt those infected. With Magneto battered from battle, it’ll be up to Polaris’ team to stop the malicious spread of Mothervine and to put an end to Havok’s reign of tyranny.Teams in comics change all the time. What makes this change such a memorable one are the chosen characters. Aside from Polaris (and maybe shirtless Daken), this isn’t exactly a fan-favorite team, but that’s why it works so well. They might not be Jean Grey and Cyclops, but they’re still X-Men and they’re still going to go out there and kick some ass. There’s a certain underdog tone to this shift in the series that you can’t help but feel good about.3 Outstandingly Super Role Models for Girls in the Marvel UniverseWhat to Expect Next Week in Unsung Marvel MomentsNext week is shaping up to be just as action-packed as this week, with some highly anticipated issues hitting shelves April 19th.
