Earlier this year, DC Comics launched a brand new imprint entitled “Wonder Comics,” a line that focuses on the adventures of teenage heroes. This imprint comprises a variety of fresh titles including NAOMI, DIAL H FOR HERO, and, of course, YOUNG JUSTICE. The latter has been penned by the notable Brian Michael Bendis, who has pit the young team of heroes against the forces of Gemworld! Now, on YOUNG JUSTICE #5, the squad faces off against the Dark Opal while combatting the revelations of undiscovered secrets!

Another Day, Another Crisis

The preview for YOUNG JUSTICE #5, featured below, depicts Teen Lantern, Robin, Jinny Hex, Amethyst, Impulse, and Superboy in a race against time as they escape from the Dark Opal’s home, Gemworld! Though their escape comprises moments of intensity, it primarily showcases the light-hearted banter amongst Young Justice’s members. This very light-heartedness has been an aspect of the series both critics and fans have appreciated since its beginning as it distinguishes the series from other current DC runs and remains faithful to the vibe of YOUNG JUSTICE’s teenage line-up.

So prepare yourself for the continuation of the Gemworld saga, an event abundant with action, surprises, and effervescence.

YOUNG JUSTICE #5 hits the stands on May 1st. Until then, be sure to check out ComicsVerse’s very own exclusive first look at the installment in addition to DC Comics’ official summary:

Gemworld rips in half as the Dark Opal battles the teen heroes of Young Justice as this huge, in-continuity epic continues. While Robin, Amethyst, Impulse, Teen Lantern and Superboy fight for their freedom, the secrets of Jinny Hex, Jonah Hex’s great-great-granddaughter, are revealed—and it is a DC Universe doozy!
