: Raleigh, North Carolina

My name is Maite Molina, and I am a student at Wake Forest University studying computer science and English.  When I was five years old, I saw the first entry of the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy, an event that kickstarted my passion for comic books and superheroes.

What is your favorite comic book and why?

Batman: The Long Halloween is my favorite not only because of its twist ending, but I love Loeb and Sale’s take on the origin of Two-Face as well as Batman’s complex relationship with Harvey Dent.

If you could have one superpower what would it be?

Definitely telekinesis.

What comics make you happy?

I have grown up on superhero comics, so finding a comic I have yet to read and discovering a fresh, original story brings me a lot of joy.

Which comic book characters do you most admire?

Batman, Spider-Man, Daredevil, Wonder Woman

Which comic book characters do you most despise?

Though it is an unpopular opinion, I have always disliked Iron Man.  I would not say I despise him, I just always found him to be a bit of a jerk.

What is the quality you most like in a creator (writer or artist)?

I like to see interpretations of popular characters that are controversial but don’t compromise the qualities that specific character is known for.  I like to see an emphasis on characteristics that have not been addressed in past adaptations.

Which words or phrases do you most overuse?

Which comic book character would you most easily fall in love with?

Spider-Man.  I love Batman, but he’s a little too broody.

Which creator talent would you most like to have?

I have tried to develop my artistic skills in recent years, but I wish I actually had a natural ability to draw.

If you were to die and come back as a person or a thing (character or creator), what would it be?

That answer will probably depend on my mood, but as of this moment, The Flash.

What fictional universe would you most like to live?

Considering that most of these universes involve constant threats of evil attempting to wipe out civilization, I am not totally sure if I would truly live in a fictional universe; however, if I had to pick, I would either pick the Star Wars universe or DC universe.

What comic is your most treasured possession?

Secret Origins of the World’s Greatest Superheroes (1991)

What do you most value in your friends?

Dependability and a good sense of humor!

Who are your favorite writers?

Jeph Loeb, Frank Miller, Alan Moore, Geoff Johns

Who is your hero of comic book fiction?

Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale

Which comic book figure do you most identify with?

I was a big fan of the Teen Titans TV series when I was younger, and I was always drawn to the character of Terra.  I felt as though she was a realistic portrayal of a teenager being granted these awesome powers without knowing how to develop a moral code.  (I’m still hoping for a sixth season!)

Who are your heroes in real life?

Christopher Nolan for creating the greatest trilogy of all time, but also my family for letting me play with action figures as a kid.

What is the comic book that you most dislike?

I found The Dark Knight Strikes Again to be a disappointment considering it was written by Frank Miller and served as the sequel to one of my favorite works.

I particularly disliked the Death of Spider-Man storyline in Ultimate Spider-Man #156-160.

Which comic book character do you think should die a permanent non-comic book death?

Plastic Man.

What is your personal motto?

“We must be willing to let go of the life we planned so as to have the life that is waiting for us.” – Joseph Campbell
