I’m just your quintessential nerd. I plan my summer social calendar around SDCC. Perpetually exhausted by the idea of adulthood and masquerading as an adult.

What is your favorite comic book and why?
The Amazing Spider-man, but more for nostalgia than anything else. Naruto also holds a special place in my heart.

If you could have one superpower what would it be?
Complete, total, and infallible mind control aka. the power of persuasion. I wouldn’t do anything too bad with it – just little life things like convincing the U.S. government that, yes, I did pay off all my student loans.

What comics make you happy?
The Amazing Spider-man pre-OMD, The Runaways vols. 1 and 2, New Avengers vol. 1 and 2, Deadpool, The Superior Foes of Spider-man, Black Cat, The Evil that Men Do, Marvel Knights Spider-man issues 1-12, Naruto, Genshiken, Gravitation, Kodocha.

Which comic book characters do you most admire?
Peter Parker and Felicia Hardy (prior to her character assassination post BND) come to mind. Peter because of his humility, his humor, and his moral compass, and Felicia because of her inspiring character development, complexity of character, and status as a sometimes hero sometimes criminal full-time HBIC.

Which comic book characters do you most despise?
I don’t despise any, but there are a lot of characters I could care less about. I’m also (generally) not a fan of derivatives of established characters. I prefer superheroes that can stand on their own without being tied to their more famous, usually male, usually white, usually straight/cis-gendered counterparts.

What is the quality you most like in a creator (writer or artist)?
The ability to integrate multiple seemingly unrelated plots into one culminating, seamless, and effortlessly cohesive conclusion.

Which words or phrases do you most overuse?
Sounds Gouda, okie dokie, savage

Which comic book character would you most easily fall in love with?
Luke Cage. He’s a certified Good Dude.

Which creator talent would you most like to have?
The ability to draw exactly what I see in my head exactly how I see it.

If you were to die and come back as a person or a thing (character or creator), what would it be?
Saitama from One-Punch Man.

What fictional universe would you most like to live?
None. I’m too fragile for them all.

What comic is your most treasured possession?
My Tokyopop editions/translations of Gravitation by Maki Murakami.

What do you most value in your friends?
Loyalty, honesty, humor, effort.

Which comic book figure do you most identify with?
All the not Super Awesome and Hero qualities of Peter Parker. Broke, using humor to mask literally any other emotion, self-depreciating, comically ill-equipped for life and stumbling through with somewhat clumsy grace (and complaining about it the entire way through).

Who are your heroes in real life?
Ron Swanson and don’t you tell me he ain’t real.

What is the comic book that you most dislike?
One More Day (I think I’m repeating myself now. Scratch that, I’m definitely repeating myself).

What comic storyline would you most like to change?
One More Day. I don’t think it warrants any explanation (but I’ve written extensively about it anyway).

Which comic book character do you think should die a permanent non-comic book death?
Every comic book character death should be permanent death unless they’re Wolverine or Deadpool.

What is your personal motto?
It’s casual.
