I am an actor and a writer. I recently received my BA from Columbia where I double majored in Theater and Neuroscience. Even more recently, I received my MA in Classical Acting from LAMDA.

What is your favorite comic book and why?

GHOST WORLD by Daniel Clowes is and will most likely remain my favorite graphic novel. As a young woman it helped me make sense of the world around me, and the simultaneously enthralling and terrifying journey of adolescence in a darkly hilarious, truthful way.

If you could have one superpower what would it be?

Though my answer to this would have been much different in the past, and would have subsequently reflected my deep need to control others (joke), currently I would be so happy to have the power to make everyone love and be nice to each other. Perhaps then we wouldn’t be facing the horrific prospect of Trump taking the role of leader of the free world.

What comics make you happy?

Comics that concern the types of powerful, three-dimensional women I interact with in my life.

Which comic book characters do you most admire?

Enid Coleslaw from GHOST WORLD, Saya from DEADLY CLASS, Evey Hammond from V FOR VENDETTA, Storm.

Which comic book characters do you most despise?

Characters that are only thinly constructed facades for dogma or essentializing ideas.

What is the quality you most like in a creator (writer or artist)?

I really like reading something that is imaginatively available to me, while still concerning itself with truthful human relationships.

Which words or phrases do you most overuse?

All the words we use to avoid truly interacting with the meaning in our words: “just,” “kinda,” and “like,” for example.

Which comic book character would you most easily fall in love with?

I know it’s not a comic “book” but I’m saying Dilbert because that’s funny.

Which creator talent would you most like to have?

As a writer I would love to have the work ethic of my favorite comics writers–most of whom are more prolific than I would ever hope to be.

If you were to die and come back as a person or a thing (character or creator), what would it be?

Storm’s hair. It is always flawless.

What fictional universe would you most like to live?

Middle Earth if I could be a black elf.

What do you most value in your friends?

The ability to put up with me long enough for us to become friends. And also honesty, compassion, and ambition.

Who are your favorite writers?

Rick Remender.

Which comic book figure do you most identify with?

Once again this is an unorthodox answer, but I would be John Arbuckle in Garfield minus Garfield.

Who are your heroes in real life?

Zadie Smith, Harold Pinter, Chimamanda Adichie, Nina Simone, Eartha Kitt, Viola Davis, Mark Leidner and my little brother whose rap name is Bilbo Swaggins

What is the comic book that you most dislike?

UNCANNY X-MEN's “The Rise and Fall of the Shi’Ar Empire.”

What comic storyline would you most like to change?

*Spoiler Alert* I wish Maria had survived in DEADLY CLASS.

Which comic book character do you think should die a permanent non-comic book death?

I wouldn’t wish death on anyone, fictional or otherwise.

What is your personal motto?

Don’t be complacent.
