Trainers, it’s time to get your running shoes on! And this time we mean it literally! The official Pokémon twitter just announced two new Pokémon games for the Nintendo Switch. The last POKEMON 3DS games, POKEMON ULTRA SUN and ULTRA MOON, released last November. It’s also been a year since the Nintendo Switch came out. Since then, all anyone has been able to talk about is when the POKÉMON games would move over to the Nintendo Switch. Well, the long wait is over! Announced as part of their annual video game press conference, POKÉMON: LET’S GO, PIKACHU!/LET’S GO, EEVEE! and POKÉMON QUEST are the latest additions to the company’s long roster of games. A complete trailer for POKÉMON QUEST has not been released yet, but you can check out the trailer for POKÉMON: LET’S GO, PIKACHU!/LET’S GO, EEVEE! below:

Here’s What We Know

The biggest of the two announcements, POKÉMON: LET’S GO, PIKACHU!/LET’S GO, EEVEE! (POKÉMON: LET’S GO for short) takes the Pokémon game franchise into uncharted territory. Based on the POKÉMON YELLOW: SPECIAL PIKACHU EDITION, which was released 20 years ago, POKÉMON: LET’S GO allows players to pick either Pikachu or Eevee to join them on their quest. Now there’s a lot to unpack in this announcement, but I’ll make sure you don’t miss a second of this monumental news.

Pokémon Hard Mode: How Games And Fans Grow Up

The first core Pokémon game for the Nintendo Switch will also be pairing up with the mobile game POKÉMON GO, just in case the Switch’s mobility wasn’t enough for you. Players can catch Kanto Region-Pokémon in POKÉMON GO and transfer them over to POKÉMON: LET’S GO. The way we catch Pokémon also changes, mirroring the mobile game’s style of waiting for that right moment to toss the ball. To help players, a new Switch Joy-Con, the PokéballPlus, will be releasing alongside the game. But if that wasn’t enough for you, POKÉMON: LET’S GO also has two-player capability, allowing you to catch Pokémon with your best friend.

POKÉMON QUEST, on the other hand, revisits the Kanto Region but this time, with cube-shaped Pokémon.

Taking place on a mysterious island known as Tumblecube Island, players of all ages will be able to battle wild Pokémon, search for hidden treasure and other special items, and befriend other Pokémon. The game seems to have a POKÉMON MYSTERY DUNGEON vibe where players are free to roam the island. Players will be able to build teams of Pokémon which they can strengthen with Power Stones. Whether or not the game will have a main storyline is still unknown. The game will be released on the Nintendo Switch and other mobile devices and will be free to start.

Pikachu, I Choose You!

The addition of POKÉMON: LET’S GO is definitely a game changer. Other games, such as INJUSTICE, have offered some mobile-console pairing, but so far, players have been limited to unlocking DLCs. For those of you, like myself, who have been playing the Pokémon games since we were young, POKÉMON: LET’S GO is the definitely the game we’ve always dreamed of playing. And don’t worry, Team Rocket will be returning with their same old antics.

POKÉMON: LET’S GO PIKACHU!/LET’S GO EEVEE! releases worldwide on November 16, 2018, on the Nintendo Switch. POKÉMON QUEST is available now (yes now!), also on Nintendo Switch.

Will you be buying LET’S GO, PIKACHU or LET’S GO, EEVEE? Are you excited about all the new Pokémon games? Let us know in the comments.
