It even has Spider-Man actor Tom Holland warning viewers about the spoilers before the trailer plays. If you haven’t seen ENDGAME, stop reading it and go see it first! [divider style=”shadow” top=”12″ bottom=”12″] Even while we’re still reeling from AVENGERS: ENDGAME, Marvel Studios has just released a brand new SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME trailer! There’s a lot of things to go over, so let’s look at the top five biggest things we learned from the new SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME trailer and what it means in light of recent (ENDGAME) MCU events. 1. SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME Trailer Reveals The When Before this new SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME trailer, the big question/speculation was as to when the film would be taking place within the MCU continuity. Perhaps it will be set after HOMECOMING but before INFINITY WAR? Now we know that that is not the case. This new trailer confirms that FAR FROM HOME will be taking place right after the events of ENDGAME. That means that Thanos’ snap has already happened, five years have passed, and Banner and Tony’s snaps have already happened as well, bringing everyone back and defeating Thanos’ forces respectively. Image from Marvel Entertainment What does this mean? Well, it means that Peter missed a lot of school! It should be interesting to see how the film handles that one. I would imagine for all intents and purposes, he’ll still be considered the same age he was before the Snap and still a high schooler, the same as any of his other classmates who vanished as well. Beyond that, it does indicate that we could be seeing how the world has adjusted after losing, and now gaining everyone back after five years. I’m super curious as to the logistics of that. Essentially, FAR FROM HOME will be acting as an epilogue for ENDGAME and will show us some of the aftermaths in a couple of ways. One such way is a big personal blow for Peter Parker himself. 2. Tony Is Gone and Peter Misses Him In ENDGAME, Tony sacrifices himself by using the INFINITY STONES to defeat Thanos and his army. While heroic, the act kills him, leaving his allies, friends, and loved ones to mourn. Image from Marvel Entertainment For Peter, this means the loss of his mentor and surrogate father. The new SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME trailer begins with Peter on a rooftop, looking at a wall mural of Iron Man. He tells Happy Hogan that he keeps seeing Tony’s face and that he misses him. Happy misses him too. We then see a shot of Peter telling some cops that he’s going on vacation. Combine this with that shot from the previous trailer where Peter leaves his suit at home, and it looks like Peter needs some time off to process and have fun with his friends after the events of ENDGAME and losing Tony. However, before Peter leaves, Happy tells him that Nick Fury is trying to reach him. Peter ignores his calls and leaves to be with his friends. It doesn’t seem like Fury’s too keen on being ignored. As soon as Peter gets into his room, Fury’s already there waiting and tranquilizes his friend Ned. We then see him taking Peter to an underground base underneath Venice. It’s there that Peter meets Fury’s other recruit, Mysterio. 3. SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME Trailer Reveals Mysterio’s From Another Universe? We know from the latest trailer and this new SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME trailer that there are elemental creatures attacking Europe and Fury needs Peter’s help to stop them. He’s also brought in a new hero: Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal). Now, the Mysterio we know from the comics is a classic Spider-Man villain by the name of Quentin Beck. Beck was an eccentric stunt man and special effects director before he was kicked out of Hollywood. As a result, he turns to crime, using his special effects know-how to create illusions and make it appear as though he has powers. Image from Marvel Entertainment SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME looks to be taking a turn with the character, making him a hero. We know from interviews that Fury recruits Beck because he’s the only one who knows anything about these creatures. However, the even bigger twist comes from this new SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME trailer with the reveal that Beck is from another universe. Beck tells Peter that they could have used someone like him in his world. Due to Peter’s confusion, Fury explains that Beck is from Earth, just not theirs. The Snap tore a hole in their dimension, which is supposedly how Beck and the creatures got through. This confirms that the MCU exists within a multiverse. 4. MJ Knows Peter’s Secret Peter is pretty resistant to helping Fury and Beck. He tells Beck that he just wants to spend time with the girl he likes and tell her how he feels. The trailer then cuts to Peter and MJ talking. He’s about to say something when MJ reveals that she knows that he’s Spider-Man. Flustering, he tries to say that he’s not, but MJ tells him it’s obvious. Image from Marvel Entertainment It certainly seems like the whole secret identity thing isn’t really a focus for these films. I mean, the only people who don’t know Peter’s Spider-Man is the general public. His aunt knows, his closest friends know (Mj and Ned), Fury and the Avengers know, Mysterio knows, Vulture knows, etc. Maybe one day this will all bite him back but for now, it just doesn’t seem to be a concern… 5. A Void To Fill The SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME trailer seems to focus on Tony’s absence. It also features quite a bit of pressure on Peter to fill that space Tony’s left behind. Happy tells him that he thinks Tony wouldn’t have made his sacrifice if he didn’t know that Peter would be there after he had gone to pick up the slack. The cops ask him if he’s the next Iron Man. Fury chose him to help save the world. Image from Marvel Entertainment Peter resists Fury’s prodding, asking if Thor or Captain Marvel is available. They’re not. Peter tells them that he’s just a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, to which Fury gives him the perfect response: “Bitch please, you’ve been to space!” Beck tells Peter that saving the world requires sacrifice, and sometimes people die. Eventually, it looks like Peter will understand that the world needs the next Iron Man. Perhaps he himself will decide to step up and take that mantle by the film’s end. We’ll have to wait and see, but at least we won’t have to wait long! SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME comes out in just a couple months!
