Studio BONES produces the anime MOB PSYCHO 100, based on a webcomic by famous ONE PUNCH MAN creator ONE. MOB PSYCHO centers on Shigeo “Mob” Kageyama, an otherwise average middle school who is also a powerful esper. He controls his emotions to avoid his powers acting up, especially as they strengthen with age. If his emotional level ever reaches 100%, his power will become too much for him to control. He studies under mentor and con artist Arataka Reigen and begins using his power for Reigen’s business. MOB PSYCHO 100 II will pick up where season one left off in 2016.

Meet the Mob Behind MOB PSYCHO 100

The studio announced MOB PSYCHO 100 II at an event in March called “MOB PSYCHO 100 Reigen: The Miraculous Unknown Psychic.” At the same event, director Yuzuru Tachikawa clarified that the same BONES staff that produced season one will also produce season two. Then, a month ago, Crunchyroll released a key visual from the upcoming season on their Twitter. The image shows Mob and his brother Ritsu surrounded by white rabbits under a large full moon. Excitement picked up quickly and it left many fans wondering what the teaser might hint at for the season.

Also attending the MOB PSYCHO 100 II premiere is Setsuo Ito, the voice of Shigeo “Mob” Kageyama. Ito is also well-known for his roles as Kai Masashisakai in ANIME-GATARI and Kenichi Iwami in CAPTAIN TSUBASA. In addition to the premiere, Ito will also be attending the other MOB PSYCHO panel, “MOB PSYCHO 100: Psycho Helmet Gathering in NYC.” The panel will look back on season one and reveal more details and announcements about season two. That panel can be caught prior to the premiere at 8 pm on Friday, November 16. Apart from the two panels, Ito will be available for photo ops and signings.

MOB PSYCHO won’t be the only premiere happening at Anime NYC. Studio GoHands will continue the story of renowned anime K with the K: SEVEN STORIES film series, releasing two films at Anime NYC: “MEMORY OF RED ~BURN~” and “Circle Vision ~Nameless Song~.” The convention will also host the U.S. premiere of the first two episodes of the anime IDOLiSH7.

If you can’t attend Anime NYC, don’t worry! You won’t have to wait much longer for MOB PSYCHO. Season 2 will officially air in Japan starting in January. Need to catch up on MOB PSYCHO 100 before season 2 comes out? You can watch the anime on both Crunchyroll and Funimation. Starting on October 27, you can catch MOB PSYCHO 100 on Toonami too. They’ll be playing season one in their 11:30 pm slot.  The original webcomic will also be released in North America by Dark Horse on Wednesday, October 24.
