milana vanytrub, marvel rising

At this year’s New York Comic Con, we at ComicsVerse got the opportunity to chat with the cast and crew of MARVEL RISING: SECRET WARRIORS!

Chatting with Milana Vayntrub

The superhero known as Squirrel Girl made her comic book debut in 1991. Since then, she has maintained a loyal cult following for a variety of reasons. Perhaps the most notable reason lies in the vibrancy of her adventures. Her stories tend to be light, never feeling grim in nature.

As a result, voice actress Milana Vayntrub wished to incorporate that light-heartedness into her performance of the beloved character. Her first step in preparation was delving into the comic book world. She read an abundance of Squirrel Girl comics and found herself genuinely enjoying the personality of the character.

Thus, like her fellow castmates, Vayntrub wanted to do this fan-favorite character justice.

So, she brought her all to her performance, even when it proved to be difficult.

In our talk with Milana Vayntrub, she discusses the hardest aspects of voice-acting, aspects we cannot see unless we are brought behind-the-scenes of MARVEL RISING.

Thankfully, Vayntrub provides us with a sneak peek, even giving us examples of some of her most challenging moments as a voice actor.

What Lies Beyond for MARVEL RISING

MARVEL RISING: SECRET WARRIORS is the first of a variety of films and television specials to be featured on DisneyXD.

At New York Comic Con, producers Cort Lane and Sana Amanat announced the production of two additional specials entitled CHASING GHOSTS and HEART OF IRON. Both films will feature beloved comic book characters, ones that have yet to obtain the exposure they deserve on a general scale.

These projects, such as SECRET WARRIORS, will undoubtedly broaden the Marvel Animated Universe greatly. Most importantly though, they will bring beloved characters to life.

We can’t wait to see them and more of Milana Vayntrub’s Squirrel Girl!

Be sure to watch MARVEL RISING on Disney XD!
