Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google+ Share on Reddit Share on Pinterest Share on Linkedin Share on Tumblr Most people are familiar with Michael B. Jordan. He stars in the recent box office hit, BLACK PANTHER. Before this, he starred as Johnny Storm in the ill-fated FANTASTIC FOUR reboot, Adonis Johnson in CREED, and as Oscar Grant in FRUITVALE STATION. But what many fans of the award-winning actor might not know is that he is a huge fan of anime. The RundownIt all started years ago, on December 26, 2011, when Jordan tweeted at Manga Stream, a fan-operated manga translation site. The tweet reads, “@mangastream whats the delay on naruto and bleach.” You can see the original tweet below:@mangastream whats the delay on naruto and bleach— Michael B. Jordan (@michaelb4jordan) December 26, 2011This tweet went fairly unnoticed at the time as Jordan, who was fresh off the shows PARENTHOOD and FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS, hadn’t become a household name yet. Fast forward to a few days ago; enter challenger @chrisfrom_216:Michael B Jordan Is A 5’9” Adult Man That Loves Anime & Lives With His Parents….Y’all Told Me All Of Those Things Were Unacceptable Though— Chris (@chrisfrom_216) February 22, 2018BLACK PANTHER: The Felicity of RepresentationChris, as he goes by on Twitter, names Jordan in his tweet in a strange attempt to bash the actor. The tweet reads, “Michael B Jordan Is A 5’9″ Adult Man That Loves Anime & Lives With His Parents…. Y’all Told Me All Of Those Things Were Unacceptable Though.” It seemed like just another person ruminating on how they compare to celebrities until Michael B. Jordan himself clapped back:First of All I’m 6ft and they live with ME, put some respeck on my name. LOL…aaaand goku & naruto are real ones ?? lol https://t.co/QspyHD2zwH — Michael B. Jordan (@michaelb4jordan) February 23, 2018The tweet reads, “First of All I’m 6ft and they live with ME, put some respeck on my name. LOL…aaaand goku & naruto are real ones ?? lol.” One thing is for sure, don’t throw punches at Michael B. Jordan. The drama doesn’t end here though. Another user, @heartofmani, responded to Jordan’s tweet, saying, “oh you’re into that kinda of anime…. the mainstream ones,” followed by a gif of a disappointed Robert Downey Jr.oh you’re into that kinda of anime…. the mainstream ones pic.twitter.com/K9980X7yS1— ????? ♥ (@heartofmani) February 23, 2018It’s a valid point though. While being a fan of anything isn’t ever a competition, a lot of anime fans get mad at those who simply watch mainstream shows like NARUTO, BLEACH, DRAGON BALL, and ONE PIECE. But Jordan was not about to let this slide. The prince of Wakanda responded with, “Nah that was a softball for the anime uneducated ?.”Nah that was a softball for the anime uneducated ?— Michael B. Jordan was the only celebrity to watch anime, guess again! Robin Williams loved AKIRA, GHOST IN THE SHELL, and NEON GENESIS EVANGELION. Zac Efron loves DEATH NOTE. KEANU REEVES tried to get an American COWBOY BEBOP adaptation going. But most notable is Samuel L. Jackson, who loves anime so much he co-produced and starred in the adaptation of AFRO SAMURAI by Takashi Okazaki, which later became an Emmy award-nominated mini-series.If there is one good thing to come from this, it’s the knowledge that you should never mess with an anime fan.
