Kevin Feige introduced Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lauren Ridloff, Bryan Tyree Henry, Salma Hayak, Lias McHugh, Don Lee, and Angelina Jolie to the stage. Director Chloe Zao spoke was present as well, sharing that the film will “really get to explore what it means to be human and humanity in our time on this planet.” THE ETERNALS is sure to be a really exciting film, and I for one have been waiting forever to see Nanjiani to see in a Marvel film! THE ETERNALS will release November of 2020.

FALCON AND WINTER SOLDIER Coming Fall 2020

Sources at SDCC say that Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan came on stage with Mackie holding the iconic Captain America shield. They talked about wanting to explore the dynamics between their two characters when actor Daniel Bruhl hijacks the big screen at the Marvel Studios SDCC panel. Playing his character Zemo from CIVIL WAR, he puts on a purple mask and tells Mackie and Stan that he’ll be seeing them both very soon. It looks like Zemo is being set up as the main villain for FALCON AND WINTER SOLDIER, with a new comics accurate look if that mask is any indication.

SHANG-CHI AND THE LEGEND OF THE TEN RINGS

It gets even more exciting going forward with this year’s Marvel Studios SDCC panel. The next confirmation was the reveal of SHANG-CHI AND THE LEGEND OF THE TEN RINGS. Not only will we see the debut of Marvel’s greatest martial artist on the big-screen, but it looks like he’ll be facing off against a group of foes that’ve been around since the MCU’s beginning, the Ten Rings.

The Ten Rings is the same terrorist organization that Obadiah Stane hires to kidnap Iron Man in the MCU’s very first film. They later made a false appearance in IRON MAN 3 when villain Aldrich Killian uses their name as well as the name of their leader, The Mandarin, in order to own the war on terror. Using sets, special effects, and an actor by the name of Trevor Slattery (Ben Kingsley), Killian created false threats and manipulated events to put himself in power.

However, it looks like we’ll be seeing the real Mandarin in SHANG-CHI, played by Tony Leung. They also brought Simu Liu onto the stage, who just found out on Tuesday that he’ll be playing titular character Shang-Chi! SHANG-CHI releases February of 2021.

WANDAVISION and LOKI Arrive Spring 2021

WANDAVISION and LOKI both arrive to DISNEY+ in the Spring of 2021, according to the Marvel Studios SDCC panel.

While it will take place after ENDGAME, it does look like it will in part be set in the 1950’s-60’s as well. According to Feige, we’ll also find out how Wanda gets the Scarlett Witch title. Bettany was on stage as well, saying he has no idea how Vision is still alive. Furthermore, an older version of Maria Rambeau’s daughter will be in the series too.

LOKI will also arrive in the Spring of 2021. Tom Hiddleston goes on stage, revealing that the Loki we’ll see is one that has just escaped custody with the Tesseract after ENDGAME.

“Just about the last thing that happened to him is he got Hulk-smashed. There’s a lot of psychological evolution yet to happen. I can’t tell you any of the plans but it is one of the most exciting creative opportunities I’ve ever come across.”

DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS!

Feige then says that while Quentin Beck (Mysterio) lies about being from another Earth, the multiverse is indeed real.

Benedict Cumberbatch and director Scott Derrickson came onto the stage next to help announce DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS. “We’re gonna make the first scary MCU film.” says director Scott Derrickson.

Cumberbatch adds, “I’m really excited to be at the dawn of this project and I think it’s vital to maintain the humor we had in the first one but with a twist of horror.” It was also revealed that Scarlet Witch will be in the movie, picking up directly after WANDAVISION. Releasing in May of 2021, it’s going to be super cool to see a Wanda/Dr. Strange team-up!

Animated WHAT IF…? and HAWKEYE Series Coming 2021

Next up is a series that is something Marvel Studios has never had an opportunity to do before. It’s an animated series coming to Disney+ called WHAT IF…? Jeffrey Wright of WESTWORLD fame will voice The Watcher in it, and each episode will focus on a different What If question. For example, what if Peggy Carter becomes a super solider instead of Steve Rogers? Wright’s Watcher will act as a narrator of sorts for the series and should be pretty cool. WHAT IF…? releases Summer of 2021.

The HAWKEYE series announcement reveals that Kate Bishop, a new Hawkeye, will star alongside Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton. Renner says that he gets to make a better version of Hawkeye than his. It’s about being a super hero without powers. It looks as though the show will focus on Barton training Bishop. Also, Feige adds that we’ll see more of Barton’s time as Ronin. HAWKEYE releases comes out Fall of 2021.

THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER!

THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER arrives November 2021! Chis Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, and director Taika Waititi all take the stage. Hemsworth says he has yet to read the script and Thompson tells the crowd about her first act as King. “First thing she needs to do is find her new queen,” she said. This indicates that Valkyrie will indeed be the MCU’s first LBGTQ superhero.

It’s further revealed that LOVE AND THUNDER will largely adapt Jason Aaron’s The Mighty Thor, including having a female Thor! It’s then that Taika Waititi introduces Natalie Portman to the stage! That’s right, Portman will be reprising her role as Jane Foster, and will take on the mantle of Thor. When Taika gave her the iconic hammer to wield, fans were freaking out. This was definitely one of the biggest surprise of the whole Marvel Studios SDCC Panel. THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER releases November of 2021.

BLACK WIDOW Reveals Footage at Marvel Studios SDCC Panel

Lastly, BLACK WIDOW will be coming May of 2020.

Cate Shortland, the director, and the cast come to the stage. There’s Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow, duh), David Harbour who will be playing a character known as Alexi, Florence Pugh who will play Yelena Volova, O-T Fagbenle as Mason, and Rachel Weisz as Molina.

The film looks like it will explore a lot of Natasha’s past. Johansson shares that she’s excited for fans to see the flawed side of Natasha. She’s also looking to wipe out some of that red in her ledger. Harbour also says that his characters has complicated feelings about Captain America. Could he be Red Guardian, The Soviet answer to Captain America?

The Marvel Studios SDCC Panel then showed footage from the BLACK WIDOW film. Reports say that it takes place in Budapest, with Black Widow looking to wipe the red out of that ledger. She crosses paths with Yelena. They fight, then drink, with Natasha referring to her as “sis”. There’s motorcycle chases, big fights, and also the debut of Taskmaster, complete with his mask and shield. Since Taskmaster has that photographic memory and can copy fighting styles and moves, it’ll be really cool to see him go toe-to-toe with Natasha as was seen in the final shots of the footage.

More To Come Beyond Marvel Studios SDCC Panel Reveals

While that was the end of the official announcements and reveals, Feige did confirm that BLACK PANTHER 2, CAPTAIN MARVEL 2, X-MEN, FANTASTIC 4, and GOTG 3 are all on the way and in the works. Lastly, we got one last surprise: BLADE is coming starring Mahershala Ali as the Daywalker himself! What?!
