If you love HAWKEYE and ROGUE & GAMBIT, get pumped. Acclaimed writer Kelly Thompson just signed an exclusive deal with Marvel Entertainment.

Filling a Void, And Adding More

This was a phenomenal move after Brian Michael Bendis’s exit from the House of Ideas, which left a pretty big gap in Marvel’s go-to talent pool. The team could be bringing Kelly Thompson on board to assuage that loss.

She’s the perfect person to do so while bringing even more to the table. Thompson’s run of HAWKEYE was particularly amazing because of the phenomenal writing of a female lead. Kate Bishop has delighted audiences, which is why it’s a shame that the book will be ending in March.

Kelly Thompson has also been killing the game with titles like CAPTAIN MARVEL & THE CAROL CORPS, JOURNEY TO STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI — CAPTAIN PHASMA, and ROUGE & GAMBIT.

She’ll be working with a wide range of titles and characters. It’ll be great to see Thompson spread her wings and experiment even more.

“Marvel was truly my first love. So to be here today, not only writing for Marvel but ‘going exclusive’ with them, is the definition of a dream come true,” said Thompson in a press release. “I remember visiting Disney World as a teen and being so consumed by an issue of X-MEN that was due to come out that I was checking newsstands like a girl possessed until I located it. So yeah, this is everything I always wanted.”

Creator of Secrets

There aren’t many details available yet, but those will be coming soon. (Stay tuned for San Diego Comic Con in the summer.) For her part, Thompson is very excited to spill the beans.

“It’s torture not to be able to share the things you know with the people you know are going to love them, but it’s also insanely cool not only to know those secrets but to be a CREATOR of said secrets,” she says.

This is an exciting time for Marvel comics, and we cannot wait to see what Kelly Thompson has in store for Marvel readers everywhere!
