This issue picks right up from there, with John Stewart recording over the battle. There are some epic splash pages of the Guardians and Lanterns battling Darkstars on Mogo. Guy Gardner, Kyle Rayner, Zod, Arkillo, and Orion battle Darkstars in space.John records over both fights, describing how the Lanterns are fighting to show the universe a better way. It emphasizes the weight of the battle, especially as John describes the slim chance they have against the Darkstar tech. John wishes he could be there, but he is coordinating an epic two-part plan on the Darkstars. The battles are meant mainly to distract, while the second part of the plan goes into effect. Not surprisingly, it involves Hal Jordan.The Second WaveHal has brought Hector Hammond to the Darkstar nerve center, where the Controllers are hooked up to the machines. Hal needs Hammond to disrupt the network by taking control of the Darkstars. Hammond’s first impulse is to kill them, but Hal pulls him back in the lightest moment of the book.
