Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google+ Share on Reddit Share on Pinterest Share on Linkedin Share on Tumblr Well its official guys, Deadpool is now a Disney Princess! While it would be entertaining to see Deadpool sporting a flowing gown (and I am by no means counting that out as a possibility), Disney has a few more probable options for what to do with his character. Deadpool has been a hit with fans since the 2016 release of DEADPOOL, so it would be surprising if Disney just let the character fizzle into nothingness. Deadpool is meta, crude, and a favorite among comic book and non-comic book readers alike. Let’s take a look at the five most likely possibilities of the future of Deadpool and where he will fit in under Disney. 1. Deadpool’s Established Universe Stays Intact Courtesy of Marvel Entertainment The future of Deadpool under Disney could be as simple as Disney letting Deadpool do what he’s been doing. Deadpool’s universe has been so well received by fans that it makes sense that Disney would keep it going. With the setup for X-Force, implied return of the Juggernaut, and the overall awesomeness of the franchise so far, Disney leaving Deadpool alone makes a lot of sense. Plus Deadpool could kick off R-rated superhero movie content under Disney. Leaving Deadpool alone seems like a safe bet, but let’s channel our inner Deadpool and get a little weird with it. The possibilities of the future of Deadpool, I mean. 2. Deadpool Kills The Fox Marvel Universe Courtesy of Marvel Entertainment Since Disney bought Fox, the current Fox Marvel franchises are dead anyway. Why not have Deadpool be the one that kills them? DEADPOOL KILLS THE MARVEL UNIVERSE is a hilariously brutal comic that lives up to its title. In the comic, Deadpool sees no more reason to keep living a fake life because he is aware that he is a comic book character. Not only that, but he seeks to free all Marvel characters from their fake lives. One by one he kills every Marvel character then travels to our world and kills the writers of DEADPOOL. Deadpool would be aware that Fox was bought by Disney. He would be aware that all of the Fox Marvel franchises are finished, but will have no true end. All of these characters will live on with no continuation of their stories to be told. They will still be there, waiting in perpetual nothingness for their next movie that will never come. So Deadpool could decide that it would be better to put an end to their stories before Disney packs them away forever. Putting a final end to the Fox Marvel franchises in this way would not only serve as a fantastic comic book adaptation but also a fitting end to the DEADPOOL trilogy. The movie would be brutal, hilarious, and meta. How much better could a Deadpool movie get? 3. MCU Reboot Courtesy of Marvel Entertainment It is possible that the future of Deadpool could be that of a complete reboot within the MCU. Deadpool’s introduction in Marvel Comics was in NEW MUTANTS #98. He was introduced as a villain instead of as an antihero. The early days of Deadpool in the comics show him mostly as an X-Force villain. Wouldn’t that be a cool way to introduce him in the MCU? Perhaps Deadpool could be the perfect adversary to Wolverine given their similar abilities. Deadpool could be a member of the Weapons Plus Program. Since Deadpool was portrayed as a good guy who only killed bad guys in his previous movies, it would be refreshing to see him as more of a villain in the MCU. Having Deadpool be portrayed as a villain would be a chance to give the audience a broader scope on his overall character. He’s always been a smart mouth, but he hasn’t always been very lovable. Sometimes he was someone who would kill anyone, good or bad, for the right price. I mean hey, his nickname is the Merc with a Mouth for a reason! 4. Keeping Him For The Cameos Courtesy of Marvel Entertainment A fun idea that has been bouncing around online is to have Deadpool replace Stan Lee for Marvel movie cameos. While no one could ever replace the man himself (Excelsior!), Deadpool taking up the mantle of Marvel movie cameos could be a fun tribute to Stan’s memory. Taking this idea a step further, it could be funny to have the hero of whichever movie Deadpool makes a cameo in to see and address Deadpool. Their confusion as to who Deadpool is and why he’s always showing up in their lives would be priceless to see on screen. Although Deadpool would be absent from the main narrative of the MCU, this theory stays true to how meta the character is. Also, we’d get to see Deadpool in every Marvel movie from now on, and that’s definitely a plus!5. Deadpool Just, Kind Of, Shows Up Courtesy of Marvel Entertainment The character of Deadpool exists outside of fictional narrative. In the comics and in the films, he is aware that he is a fictional character because he is constantly breaking the fourth wall. With this unregistered superpower that Deadpool posses comes its perks. Since Deadpool is aware that he is a movie character, he is also aware of the Fox buyout. So, the future of Deadpool in the MCU could be as simple as just dropping him in the MCU. Taking his established character and putting that version that we know and love in a future MCU movie. Almost every aspect of Deadpool’s life as it existed with his franchise under Fox would be totally different in order to fit into the main continuity of the MCU. However, Deadpool would be the same. He would become a displaced character, and he would be aware of it. This theory would allow Deadpool to not be rebooted or separated from the main MCU. Deadpool would continue on as we’ve known him, just with different stories and in a different universe. He could even reference his old Fox franchise in his new movies, leaving other characters around him thinking he’s crazy. When in fact he’s the only character that knows the truth. Pretty meta right? That’s Deadpool! The Future Of Deadpool Courtesy of Marvel Entertainment No matter what Disney decides to do with Deadpool, in one way or another, his stories will continue. Fans have already shown their immense love for him. With his first movie, Deadpool became one of the most popular superheroes to date. In other words, Deadpool makes too much money for Disney to do nothing with him. A safe bet would be that the future of Deadpool under Disney is safe no matter the direction they take. I can’t wait to see what he’ll do next!
