It seems like it was ages ago when we found out Marvel-great Brian Michael Bendis was switching his allegiance with an exclusive DC Comics contract. Since that announcement in November, we’ve been waiting on baited breath to find out what the heck he’s going to be doing in the DCU.

Well, now we know. Y’all ready for this?

Bendis is going to start with a little ditty called ACTION COMICS #1000. No biggie. He’s just casually stepping in to this major milestone. And Jim Lee is the artist on it? Cool, that’s also casual.

But he isn’t done there, folks. Bendis is going to follow this up with a six-issue weekly miniseries called MAN OF STEEL. This story will re-tell the demise of Krypton and introduce a new villain who reveals some new information behind the event.

The issues of this series will feature interconnected covers by Ivan Reis and Joe Prado. Other creators on board include Evan “Doc” Shaner, Ryan Sook, Kevin Maguire, Adam Hughes and Jason Fabok.

MAN OF STEEL will begin May 30, but a Bendis and Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez are collaborating on a prelude to the story that will be included in the DC NATION #0 sampler available May 2.

Then in July,  Bendis is going to give us even more Superman with two more books — SUPERMAN #1 and ACTION COMICS #1001. The former will deal with the aftermath of the MAN OF STEEL miniseries. The latter will shift the focus to Clark Kent’s work at the Daily Planet.

DC will release SUPERMAN #1 on July 11 and ACTION COMICS #1001 on July 25.

Bendis is bringing his own world under the DC umbrella. JINXWORLD encompasses a plethora of noir book such as JINX, TORSO, POWERS, A.K.A. GOLDFISH and SCARLET. In the spring, DC will make some JINXWORLD titles available digitally. These include BRILLIANT, FIRE, FORTUNE & GLORY and TOTAL SELLOUT.

Series like POWERS, SCARLET and THE UNITED STATES OF MURDER INC. will continue at DC, while new characters are added this year.

A New Imprint

Bendis will also be curating his own DC imprint.  We don’t know many specifics yet, only that the imprint will include his “all-time favorite characters.” Bendis will also be creating new characters and titles for the imprint.
