His style is immediately pleasing to the eye; capturing very realistic visuals without appearing muddy or uncanny. His character designs are also very expressive, displaying complex shifts between emotions from panel to panel. When the scene shifts to take place in space, it manages to somehow perfectly capture the majesty of a life in the stars and the grimy interior of a room inhabited by a mad scientist.Warren Ellis is a critically-acclaimed writer, and it’s obvious why here. Even in these first few pages, it’s easy to grasp who these characters are and what it is they’re dealing with. So Ellis’ dialogue manages to strike that excellent point between being informative and defining personalities. Combined with the expressive art, and you have an amazing combination of visual and literal storytelling. So, as everything falls to pieces, who will win out in the war between IO and Skywatch? Or are these two shadowy organizations facing mutually assured destruction? The only way to find out is to keep reading!
