Scarlet has been fighting to change the world but, in SCARLET #4, it looks like our red-haired revolutionary is ready to give up! In this preview, Scarlet starts to mull over her decision with a special forces soldier she previously captured. So there’s a certain mix of optimism and cynicism coming from Scarlet in this preview, as the soldier in front of her details the possible things that can happen to her. Scarlet has certainly caused a stir, creating a revolution that’s led the US to isolate the insurrectionists to the city of Portland.

The Final Stand

On some level, Scarlet is doing the smart thing: she wanted the attention of the people in power, and now she’s got it. The next step is to either negotiate or actually fight a bloody rebellion. Scarlet isn’t ready to do the latter. Or is she? She certainly doesn’t sound like it in these pages. It feels like she’s bitten off more than she can chew, but she’s determined to do the right thing.

Writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Alex Maleev have done a great job of approaching this series as realistically as possible. So, with the division and political tension in the air today, this Eisner Award-winning duo has captured that energy and channeled it into this book incredibly well. It will be interesting to see what their endgame is with this series, but with what the Captain and Scarlet talk about in this preview, that might be a moot point!

So what will Scarlet end up doing? What does this mean for the future of her revolution? Take a look at this preview to find out more!
