Rather, it shows the Guardians of the Universe checking in on an alien Lantern named Maxim Tox and his allies. Right away, the Morrison brand of bizarre comedy is on display. As Tox fights a Spider-Pirate, some gawking witnesses take bets on who will win: Tox or the, apparently, vegan spider. Why is the spider vegan? Who knows?! But it doesn’t matter, it’s some great, humorous worldbuilding. It almost feels like something out of 2000 AD or HEAVY METAL magazine, which Morrison is the editor of. The preview also shows a very Morrison-esque new character, Floozle Flem. Flem is a super-intelligent virus, who’s also a Green Lantern. It’s a brilliant idea for a character that only someone like Morrison could come up with. Flem takes down the Spider-Pirate, who becomes violently ill from Flem’s attack. The rest of the issue will focus on Jordan investigating a conspiracy within the Green Lantern Corps. Apparently, he uncovers a traitor in the Corps’ ranks as well. The creative team on this book is Grant Morrison, Liam Sharp, and Steve Oliff.
