Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google+ Share on Reddit Share on Pinterest Share on Linkedin Share on Tumblr This year, I had the pleasure of attending C2E2, one of the nation’s largest comic and entertainment conventions, and I was absolutely floored by the sincere passion and dedication attendees had for comic books. As a long-time fan of comic books, I have been attending anime and comic conventions for over a decade, mostly west-coast conventions such as Anime Expo and San Diego Comic Con. The magnitude and scale of these conventions cannot be overstated, but one of the things that most impressed me about C2E2 was the focus on comics and their creators. I can say, without a doubt, that C2E2 is comic book convention genuinely devoted to comic books and their fans. At C2E2, comic book creators, writers, and illustrators are the main attraction, the stars of the show. Artist Alley was bustling with fans seeking out their favorite creators for autographs, photos, and simply the chance to meet with them. WATCH our interview with the creative team behind Marvel’s SILK at C2E2! ComicsVerse was lucky enough to get to chat with Danielle Otrakji, a talented, Chicago-based freelance illustrator whose traditional ink designs are out of this world, about her recent projects and what to expect from her in the future. We touched on her background in sculpting and 3D illustration as well as her involvement in Zach Galifianakis’ show BASKETS and the children book I LOVE MY MONSTER by T!an Toy. We also discussed her work on LIBERTY: DECEPTION volume 1 and how she got involved in the Kickstarter comic. Finally, we were able to chat about what comics she was excited about currently and her love of Mike Mignola and HELLBOY.
