Whatever you celebrate this season, it is definitely the season of giving.  Since we just love giving gifts so much, we’ve been keeping our eyes out for some of the best comic-related gifts out there for this holiday season!  Here’s ComicsVerse’s top 5 Comic Holiday Wishlist!

#5- BB-88

Ok, of course STAR WARS is known for being a movie series primarily, but Marvel’s been on fire with their STAR WARS comics, too, so we don’t feel too bad about including this one on the list.  The remote-controlled droid will wheel and roll around your house, and can even run on its own programming.  It’s not exactly like having your own droid, but it’s the closest you’re going to get for a few years yet!

BB-88 is one of the most obvious examples of the technological advancements that have occurred since STAR WARS: RETURN OF THE JEDI.  It seems fitting that this droid can “learn” and “interact”- it seems to be a sort of revolution of sorts.  This is probably the most apt example of artificial intelligence available for home use.  I’m not saying these are going to be taking over the world anytime soon, but they will be fun for you, your kids, and your pets!

#4- Double Take’s Super Packs

Each Super Pack comes with 10 comics.  Each Super Pack is only $20.  Comics typically run at about $3-4 an issue.  You’re saving money and getting 20 quality comics.  Perfect for the zombie fan in your family, especially if they’re a NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD fan- these books are set in the same universe! Even better, you can now get Double Take‘s Super Packs in Barnes and Noble.  It’s never been easier!

Digging deeper…

Double Take’s universe has already begun to weave in and out of itself, leaving clues across issues and mysteries in the backgrounds and details of every panel.  The way things have been planned out is impressive to say the least, and it looks like they’re not only revolutionizing the way selling comics works, but writing comics, as well.

Here’s a two-for-one of Christmas-themed Batman tales for the Dark Knight fanatic on your shopping list.  BATMAN: NOEL is a Batman-inspired take on Charle’s Dickens’ A CHRISTMAS CAROL.  BATMAN RETURNS is, of course, the 1992 film starring Michael Keaton, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Danny Devito, which some might forget was set during Christmas.  Deck the halls, pop in a disc, or open up the comic by the fire and enjoy a wintry tale.  You can’t go wrong!

Digging deeper…

BATMAN: NOEL is, as stated before, a Batman-inspired version of A CHRISTMAS CAROL.  Finding the parallels between the two stories is fun for any fan of literature, comics, or Christmas.  BATMAN RETURNS, on the other hand, isn’t as Christmas-y as it is a Tim Burton take on the Dark Knight, with Michelle Pfeiffer essentially redefining Catwoman for a generation or two and Danny Devito making the Penguin more threatening than ever before. It’s one of the better entries in the first Batman movie series, and definitely worth watching this holiday season.

#2- THE WALKING DEAD SEASONS 1 and 2 from TellTale Games

Zombie fans rejoice!  If you’re a fan of THE WALKING DEAD in any form, chances are you’ve at least heard of these games.  With 2 seasons under their belts already, it looks like we can expect more of these in the future.  The best part for any fan of the TV series- this is like a TV show that you control!  It’s pretty cheap right now as a digital download, and can otherwise be found… pretty much anywhere videogames are sold.

Digging deeper…

The depth of these games comes from the “Choose-Your-Own-Adventure” feel to the game.  You are defining the character and the action, so the story is different for each person.  You’ll find out how typical your decisions are, which is as close as you can get to a definitive storyline, and exploring all of the options makes both seasons worth playing through a few times.

#1- Marvel’s Avengers Phase 2 Box Set

avengers 2 boxed set

This one might break the bank, but if you’re willing to empty your wallet, you can get the Avengers Phase 2 Box Set.  It includes IRON MAN 3, THOR: THE DARK WORLD, CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON, and ANT-MAN.  Also filled with a load of special features, you’ll also have your own replica of the orb from GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY.

Digging deeper…

Where do we begin?  With a marketing structure that redefined superhero movies- no, entertainment in general- Marvel’s THE AVENGERS series is probably the most epic thing that’s ever happened to Hollywood.  You’re getting a rich and complex history of the Marvel Universe within scenes from THOR and GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY; you get to witness what happens when the government has too much control in CAPTAIN AMERICA; and you get to see the whole team back together (with a few new friends) in AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON.  The criss-crossing of the various series-within-the-series is one of the most fun parts of these movies- you never know who will appear in which film, and it’s always a treat.
