Marvel Movies and TV

So far, all Marvel movies and Marvel television shows created by Marvel Studios have continuously performed well at the big box office. It all started with 2008’s IRON MAN. Then, Joss Whedon subsequently directed AVENGERS. AVENGERS solidified Marvel movies as Hollywood’s best blockbuster films. Marvel films like ANT-MAN, CAPTAIN AMERICA, THOR, and AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON continued to build on the success of Marvel’s Avengers in 2012. Now, Marvel is king. Their movies spawned a franchise with plans for Marvel filming well after 2021.

The Future of Marvel Movies

DOCTOR STRANGE marked the second time Marvel Studios looked outside their mainstream collection of superheroes for new headline movie characters. Due to the success of DOCTOR STRANGE, Marvel Studies released dates for movies like CAPTAIN MARVEL and BLACK PANTHER. Finally, this current phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will conclude with AVENGERS: INFINITY GAUNTLET.

Marvel Movies Owned by Twentieth Century Fox

Marvel Studios currently do not own the rights to all Marvel properties. For example, Twentieth Century Fox owns the rights to mutant characters in Marvel films. Films like X-MEN, DEADPOOL, THE WOLVERINE, and LOGAN were all created by Fox. Currently, no plans exist for the film rights of these properties to return to Marvel.

Marvel Television

Storylines carried over from films to Marvel television makes the Marvel Cinematic Universe unique. AVENGERS character Phil Coulson appears in MARVEL’S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. In addition, THOR’s Lady Sif made appearances on MARVEL’S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Furthermore, Marvel television also resides on Netflix. There, you can watch Marvel shows like DAREDEVIL, JESSICA JONES, LUKE CAGE, IRON FIST, and the DEFENDERS.

X-Men: Days of Future Past- From Page to Screen

By Travis Czap
May 24, 2014
in :  Comic Book Movies and TV, Marvel Movies and TV, Movies and Television

Having recently had the honor and privilege of attending the global premiere of the most recent mutant film, X-Men: Days of Future Past, I figured that I would compare the film to its book counterpart, on which it is based. True believers, as Stan Lee would put it, are probably wondering how the two measure up, and what differences exist …

The time has arrived for the new trailer of X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST to be released and wow! Well, not exactly, “wow,” but we certainly see some things we like. It looks like although Kitty Pryde will be making an appearance in this film, she will not be the link to the past and present like comic book Kitty …

Black Widow Justifies the Retcon, Or Why It’s OK Captain America Never Really Dies

By bryan_le

in :  Comic Book Movies and TV, Marvel Movies and TV, Movies and Television

Ah, the comic retcon. It’s an age-old comic book trope that the jaded regard as a cheap, narratively convenient tactic to justify a deus ex machina, or to bring back a popular character after their big death issues flew off the shelves. Many argue that retcons are a necessary evil of the medium—after all, how can anyone freely write a …
