There is so much perfection in it. It is like bathing in sweet, sweet, awesomeness. There is no need to be wary if you are a Black Panther fan. It looks like all of your wishes have been granted from just the mere minutes of the teaser trailer.

The “Three Elements” For Success

A great teaser will have three elements that will get movie goers off their couches and into the theaters. One is a general cause for hype and excitement. Two is a talented cast and characters with notable faces. The last is a trailer that tells a story without giving away the entire plot.

The Makings Of A Great Teaser Trailer

Since his debut in CIVIL WAR, Marvel fans have been excited about Black Panther way before the production of the solo film even began. Fans were even excited about Wakanda being mention in AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON. From there that excitement just grew larger and larger as details about the film and cast were released. A pending film for one of Marvel’s oldest characters creates a lot of excitement for Black Panther fans. The teaser trailer just gave us a hype and hope that we can believe in.

The teaser trailer to BLACK PANTHER is more than just hype and excitement. Diehard fans will get the most well-assembled cast since THE AVENGERS. Coming from Marvel this means a lot to those fans. It shows us that Marvel cares about the representation of people of color in the MCU and their stories.

The cast includes; Forest Whitaker as Zuri, Michael B. Jordan as Erik Killmonger, Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia, Danai Gurira as Okoye, and so much more. Star power aside, even the director, Ryan Coogler, was carefully chosen to give the film its due diligence.

The BLACK PANTHER teaser has great music, special effects, and fantastic editing. All of which help cultivate a magnificent story for the film in under two minutes. At its core, the story is about T’Challa stepping into the spotlight as the leader of Wakanda on a world stage. This story is also about Wakanda and its people just as much as it is T’Challa becoming a leader. With that said, the teaser doesn’t give away too much, but it provides the film with much-needed context.

BIG Takeaways

When you break down the BLACK PANTHER teaser frame by frame you get a better understanding of the plot. The interrogation scene in the beginning with Ulysses Klaue (Andy Serkis) and Everett Ross (Martin Freeman) gives us exposition to Wakanda. In the MCU, Wakanda is a technologically advanced nation unknown to the rest of the world. Everett Ross describes it as a developing nation, but Ulysses Klaue informs him it is a front to seclude Wakanda. Ross represents exposition in the film and it is important because scenes with him in it will teach the viewers about the world of Wakanda throughout the film.

There are also elements of narration in the trailer like T’Chaka talking to T’Challa about becoming the king. The use of narration is indicative of T’Challa trying to balance being the King of Wakanda and Black Panther. T’Chaka narrates several visual sequences that involve T’Challa in leadership roles. Whether it is T’Challa speaking at the United Nations Summit or meeting with different factions within Wakanda, his father is narrating the challenges he faces as the king. T’Chaka’s narration also ties in Wakanda’s current political strife and how T’Challa will respond to them.

BLACK PANTHER Teaser Villains (What We Know)

An essential aspect of the teaser are the villains. Killmonger’s presence in the teaser indicates that he is T’Challa’s antagonist in BLACK PANTHER. He fights T’Challa in a flashback in the teaser indicating a long history between the two characters. Killmonger even breaks Ulysses Klaue out from the interrogation room revealing an alliance between villains. Their rivalry looks to embody all of the major themes of the film. Killmonger will represent an opposition to T’Challa as the King of Wakanda and as Black Panther. The teaser trailer masterfully portrays this in a subtle way and it gives fans a hint at what is to come.

It Is Okay…

If you have high expectations after watching the teaser trailer to BLACK PANTHER you are not alone. Everything we have seen so far looks amazing. The A-list cast, the story, traditional African wardrobe, and the action sequences that involve combat all look fantastic.

BLACK PANTHER fans should look out for how great the scenes with Black Panther’s all female Royal Guard will be. There were rumors about how good Danai Gurira, who also plays Michonne on THE WALKING DEAD, was performing her owns stunts. This is also in addition to the stunt work Lupita Nyong’o does in the casino scene. In short, there are going to be a lot of action in BLACK PANTHER.
