DC Comics is crushing it with its Rebirth line of comics due to some incredible storytelling! While I loved DARK NIGHTS: METAL and enjoyed JUSTICE LEAGUE VS. SUICIDE SQUAD, my favorite thing to come out DC Rebirth is The Batman/Flash crossover — BATMAN/THE FLASH: THE BUTTON!

Batman and The Flash Face an Unprecedented Threat in BATMAN/THE FLASH: THE BUTTON

Batman and Flash are two of my favorite heroes. So, when they crossover, I’m always first in line to pick up the issues the moment they are released. However, BATMAN/THE FLASH: THE BUTTON proved far more than a fun crossover event between heroes. It felt shocking, intense, and emotionally gripping. The story contains high stakes for the entire DC Comics universe. As an added bonus, it also heavily connects to Alan Moore’s masterpiece WATCHMEN.

The writing from Tom King and Joshua Williamson is wonderfully descriptive and intense. The art from Howard Porter and Jason Fabok is descriptive in its own way with powerful images that brought tears to my eyes.

BATMAN/THE FLASH: THE BUTTON finds Batman and The Flash facing off with an old enemy — time. Batman was not fast enough to save his parents and Flash was not fast enough to save his mother. Our heroes discover that though one of them is the greatest detective and the other is the fastest man alive, they are truly insignificant compared to the powers of time. Time is the one constant and as Doctor Manhattan says “it never ends”.

DC has released its BATMAN/THE FLASH THE BUTTON DELUXE EDITION comic. It collects BATMAN #21-22 and THE FLASH #21-22. You don’t have to be a comic book fan to like this one. I think it is an essential read for anyone who loves good stories with powerful messages.

BATMAN/THE FLASH: THE BUTTON is truly the best of what modern comic book storytelling has to offer. Do yourself a favor and pick up a copy!
