Comics Reviews

The internet is rife with comic book reviews, but no comics reviews are quite like the ones you’ll find at ComicsVerse. We review Marvel, DC Comics, Image Comics, Valiant, Dark Horse, IDW, 451, Boom!, Black Mask, Drawn & Quarterly, Fantagraphics, and more!

Emphasis on Comic Book Theory

ComicsVerse has a rigorous comic book reviews process. First, we carefully curate each week’s released comics and graphic novels. Next, we make sure to study each issue carefully, attempting to relate each comic to the principles of comic book theory. In addition, our reviews pay special attention to the creative team’s writing, art, lettering, and inking.

Our Philosophy for Comic Book Reviews

The internet seems too full of negativity. We don’t believe in tearing anyone or any work of art down due to this. Comics journalism is a new form of journalism. Finally, we don’t come to write comic book reviews as experts. We arrive at writing them from the perspective of students of comics and comic book theory. Please enjoy reading our reviews!

First, …

Way back when, my wife and I used to haunt the comic book shop in Warrington, Cheshire (UK) which has long since gone (sadly), our primary purchases where Batman (all flavours), X-Men and Catwoman.   A close friend of mine (hello, Mr. Hatch) understood our comics and occasionally had a look in them, however, he wouldn’t entertain Catwoman.  His reasoning …

X-Infernus Review

By Raisaol
April 6, 2009
in :  Comic Book Articles, Comics Reviews

By way of brief introduction, I’ll start by telling you that X-INFERNUS is the four-issue sequel the crossover series Inferno (released in 1989) and its central focus is on Magik’s literal soul-searching journey into Limbo. Illyana has always been an interesting character, in my opinion, so this mini-series was worth giving a shot! I just happened to start out with …
