Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google+ Share on Reddit Share on Pinterest Share on Linkedin Share on Tumblr The world of video games is equipped with amazing games. However, only some manage to stick with us and become classics. These games stay with us throughout our lives. Some games are admired even more because of the era in which they were created in. Nostalgia takes a huge place in the heart of every gamer. It is a way we can connect with our peers, our friends we’ve lost touch with, family members, or new roommates and people we just want to find common ground with. CELESTE: A Mountain-Climbing Platformer These games, whether one-player or two, can cause us to strengthen our bond with other people fighting their battles. Whether you want to play one-player games side-by-side with a friend or two-player games you can play with that person you want to connect with, there are plenty of games to choose from. The following is a list of the top classics that we will never get tired of and that will help us deepen our connections with others: Classic Games That Bring Us Together #1: Pokémon: Gold Version The mobile game to make this list is Pokémon: Gold Version. The 90s and early 2000s contained waves of popularity for the Pokémon franchise, especially for their games. Fans fell in love with the Red and Blue (and Green) games, but Pokémon: Gold Version came quickly after, giving players better graphics, much more adventure, and overall more enjoyable gameplay. Courtesy of Nintendo This game (as well as its Silver and Chrystal counterparts) takes the cake in classic handheld games that will never get old. This game is a perfect pick to connect with someone you want to connect with through gaming. Most kids and teens in the early 2000s played Pokémon games, and most of them still enjoy these games. Now you can even play them on the 3DS as well as on your old Gameboy. You and a friend can pick up this game and battle and trade Pokémon and have fun partying like it’s 1999. Classic Games That Bring Us Together #2: Super Metroid All the Samus lovers out there can attest that Super Metroid was a game ahead of its time. It was revolutionary with its suspenseful music, isolating gameplay, and awesome graphics. Because of this, it has stood the test of time and still stands strong today. If revolutionary games are what you are searching for, keep in mind that Super Metroid is still enjoyed by fans everywhere. Who could ever get sick of fighting monsters and solving puzzles in an alien world? This game is fun to play as well as watch! This, along with the timeless nostalgia factor, is why it is a superb starting place for kindling up friendships and striking up conversation. Play it or watch a friend play it (or both!) and enjoy the memories you make and the fun you have. It’s safe to say that Link will never go out of style as he rides Epona through the grassy fields of Hyrule Field. Why OVERWATCH Is Still Successful There are tons of people who love the Zelda series. Some of which are so dedicated to the series that it is all they play. Or maybe they have found memories of their childhood gameplay. Whatever the reason, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is a great starting place for connecting with others through gaming. Courtesy of Nintendo Classic Games That Bring Us Together #4: Super Mario 64 It’s a me—Mario! Who could forget Mario’s cheery voice blasting through square TV speakers? Super Mario 64 is one of those classics that hardly anyone can say they’ve never played or heard of. Going around and earning stars, sliding down fun slides within Peach’s castle, and throwing Bowser around is still fun decades later. This game was often the first Nintendo 64 game a person had back in the 90s, and it can now be played on the DS as well. Despite its 1996 release, fans still find themselves drawn to it after all this time. Most people have played this game, whether or not they are hardcore gamers, so this is a classic that can help someone you know relate to your nerdy affinity. Play this side by side with a friend and have some laughs and conversations revolving around nostalgia and your favorite plumber. SLAY THE SPIRE: Why You Should Be Excited The world in Earthbound could become explored without traveling between places on an Overworld map. This was revolutionary for its time. In this game, fighting with your favorite Nintendo characters against friends made for a fun party. Many adults still host tournament parties, with gamers and non-gamers alike. So you could even host your own Super Smash Bros. event and invite all of your friends! Fight as Pikachu or Gannon, eat some chips and dip, and laugh and scream at the TV all evening.
