At the Image Comics Expo, Image announced a whopping 25 new and exciting comics scheduled for this year. With stories ranging from horror or fantasy and back again, there are so many exciting things to look forward to. Following the publication of BINGO LOVE, Tee Franklin is teaming with Maria Nguyen on a 5-issue run called JOOK JOINT. The comic tells the tale of a jazz club/brothel. This club exposes the social repercussions of racism, rape, domestic violence, and inequality. To top it off, Franklin is working with unique charity variants to benefit Joyful Heart, a non-profit founded by Mariska Hargitay.PRISM STALKER #1 Advanced Review: A Bizarre, But Relevant, WorldThis comic is an Image milestone. With JOOK JOINT comes the first black woman to write her own series for Image, which is exciting in itself. However, here is a warning to you, dear reader. Although Franklin released BINGO LOVE, this comic is set to have a less-than-cutesy tone. Do things that go bump in the night horrify yet intrigue you? Well, then you are in luck! Look no further than John Layman, Nick Pitarra, and Mike Garland’s LEVIATHAN! Any comic that describes itself as “Godzilla by way of black magic” is bound to be a must-read! The story is about a group of millennials who try to use black magic. Although their original intent was just for laughs, they end up with so much more. More being a giant demonic monster intent to kill them all. However, WHAT’S THE FURTHEST PLACE FROM HERE? is your chance to see this fantastic comic team at work! The pair is creating a dense and exciting world in their Image Comics Expo debut!SNEAK PEEK: Robert Kirkman’s Upcoming Series OBLIVION SONG A gang of young punks finds themselves lost in the wasteland of America. However, when their youngest member disappears, the gang decides to search for her. Facing other dangerous gangs, deadly terrain, and maybe even fighting each other, the gang will find out how exactly the world has ended.The first issue is to launch this November. There is no better way to celebrate than to have McFarlane give us EVEN MORE SPAWN. With McFarlane announcing 5 SPAWN-related projects in the works, MISERY is the project that stands out the most. And it stands out in all the right ways.In the wake of the #MeToo scandals, a teenage hero is tired of being pushed around and abused by others. This new character, Misery, helps innocent people who have been victims of the evil that has spread across the world. Stories go global as Misery tries to discover how to manage her powers and make others miserable.
